Boris’ condition remains serious, with some deterioration at the moment. Neurological symptoms begin to appear – tremors (shaking) of the limbs and ongoing tics are observed. This may indicate the development of the neurological form of the disease – ganglia, and at this stage only time will tell how his condition will develop.

Today’s control tests are relatively good – the hematocrit is 31, and the leukocytes have dropped almost to normal. Boris is placed on a decubital mattress, as he can hardly stand on his front paws and mostly lies down. Despite his serious condition, Boris eats, responds to attention and in his quiet way shows joy in human presence. His physical condition remains serious:

• the hind limbs are severely swollen
• has a pressure ulcer on the elbow that is treated and bandaged daily
• due to the wound and his general condition, he was placed on a specialized decubitus mattress, in order to prevent additional wounds and relieve pain
• pus-like discharge from the eyes is observed
• breathing is rapid

Severe edema makes it significantly more difficult to draw blood and change the venous line. Boris remains disabled, with a catheter in place, and at present can only be moved by carefully turning him from side to side.

About the possibility of a stroller

After launching an appeal for a stroller, we received overwhelming support and currently have two strollers donated. We are deeply grateful for this response.

However, it is important to clarify that the lack of use of a wheelchair at this time is not a matter of desire or refusal, but a completely medical decision.

His hind limbs and groin area are very painful. Any attempt to position or bend his legs causes Boris to react with pronounced pain and vocalization.

Due to the pain, severe swelling, and the presence of a pressure ulcer, standing up and using a wheelchair are not possible at this stage.
Any rehabilitation actions or aids will only be discussed when his condition allows it.

We continue to care for Boris and fight for him – day by day. 🤍

↓Medical information

The stools are still dark in color. Blood tests show an improvement in red blood cell counts, meaning the anemia is well controlled. Leukocytosis (inflammation) is also controlled. He continues to breathe more rapidly and heavily, unfortunately. He eats with appetite – independently and has a good fluid balance.

↓Medical information

Today Boris is stable and feeling good! He has an appetite, his temperature is normal and he hasn’t had bloody diarrhea for over 15 hours. He doesn’t need a blood transfusion for now, but tomorrow control tests are pending. We strongly hope that this improvement will last. This news gives us hope and strength that we will see his smile again. We thank from the bottom of our hearts the doctors and all of you who are by his side every day!

↓Medical information

Boris today has a hematocrit of 25, after the blood transfusion. He continues to have stools with dark blood, which we assume is due to a serious inflammation of the intestines due to long exposure to low temperatures and the mucosa is diffusely ulcerated, which is where the bleeding comes from. It is possible that we will need more blood donors in the future, since we cannot control the bleeding from the intestines and we expect him to lose more blood, seeing his stools. In general, his condition is stable, he continues to fight.

↓Medical information

Since January 17, we have been observing a sharp deterioration in Boris’s condition. After the blood transfusion on January 16, his indicators improved significantly – hematocrit increased from 17% to 32% by January 17. In the period January 16–January 18, Boris was in stable condition, with a normal temperature and restored appetite.

Unfortunately, on the morning of January 18th, Boris developed severe bloody diarrhea, with black stools. Therapy for hemorrhagic gastroenteritis was started that same day. However, by January 19th, his condition had not improved and his stools remained black. The control blood tests revealed a sharp drop in hematocrit and hemoglobin – up to 16%, which necessitated an urgent new blood transfusion.

Currently, Boris is stable, but is visibly more lethargic and has a reduced appetite. We are awaiting the results of the biochemical tests and CRP, which will provide further clarity about his condition and the next steps in treatment. We continue to fight for Boris and will inform you promptly about any changes.

↓Medical information about Boris

Today, Boris’ hematocrit dropped sharply. His condition required an emergency blood transfusion.Boris is here and fighting for the people who didn’t get past him. But today he is here because of Linda. The scene in which one of our homeless children we are looking for a home for – Linda, donate blood for Boris…moved us to tears. Two animals. One gives the other a chance to live. Because animals teach us lessons every day, which we as humans are still learning: how to help, What is it like to be a true friend? how to save a life – without asking for anything in return. Let us learn from them. Let’s be like Linda. Let’s be better. 🤍 We pray for Boris.

↓Medical information about Boris

“As of today, Boris’ condition remains serious.
Today he maintains a high fever, there is an increase in indicators indicating infection in blood tests, he refuses food and has respiratory symptoms.

Boris was admitted to our hospital on 08.01.2026 in a serious general condition after being hit by a car, as well as in a pronounced hypothermic state, as he had spent approximately 48 hours immobilized outdoors, in snow and low temperatures. The prolonged exposure to cold in this condition had a serious impact on his body and contributed to complicating the clinical picture.

Upon admission, the following were found:
• avulsion (detachment) of the tail
• lack of reflexes in the hind limbs
• hematoma in the abdominal area (in the bladder area) due to the impact
• swelling of the perineal area.

Boris has a urinary catheter in place, as he cannot urinate on his own. At the moment, there is no longer any blood in his urine. He defecates on his own when he needs it. Due to the deterioration of his general condition today, efforts are mainly focused on stabilization.

The tests performed were positive for gonorrhea, anaplasmosis, and giardia.
It is important to clarify that at the time of admission, Boris did not have clinical symptoms characteristic of an active form of GAN.

Due to the positive test for rabies, Boris was placed and treated in an infectious disease ward, in complete isolation, according to medical protocols, in order to protect other animals and strictly monitor his condition.

Laboratory results show very high levels of antibodies against the ganata virus, but there are no symptoms of the virus.
Due to severe trauma, prolonged hypothermia, and general stress on the body, the condition is monitored carefully, as these factors can affect immune status.

Long-term treatment is ahead, and at present, an accurate prognosis for the outcome of the treatment cannot be given due to the need for dynamic monitoring and adaptation of the therapy to the body’s reaction.

The trauma from the impact is likely to leave him disabled for the rest of his life. The main goal at the moment is to stabilize his general condition and monitor whether Boris will be able to perform his physiological needs independently.

“Additional imaging tests, including a CT scan, are planned when his general condition allows. We continue to do everything we can for Boris and will inform about any changes in his condition.”

↓THE STORY OF BORIS

09.06.2026

❗ Boris was left to die – deliberately.

A driver hits Boris in front of witnesses. He feels guilty that he was seen and promises to take him to a veterinary clinic. Instead, he knowingly and inhumanely leaves him to die – in the freezing night, about 10 km from the scene of the accident. The truth about Boris must be heard. We expect the prosecutor’s office to take action. A report is pending from our side.

📖 Here’s what happened:

Boris is homeless, but one of the favorite neighborhood dogs in the Orlandovtsi neighborhood. Loved. Looked after. Fed. He walked with the pets of the people who took care of him. He played with the children. A good, friendly, and completely harmless dog – as all dogs are when they are cared for.

On 05.01, in the evening, around 18:30, Boris is walking with a woman who is walking her pet. At one point, a car (a jeep) comes out onto the road and hits the dog. The woman reacts immediately and stops the driver.

– reports to 112 at 7:38 p.m.

– reports what happened

– reports the vehicle registration number

– 112 returns the call at 8:07 p.m. The signal has been received.

112 asks if Boris was hit intentionally, as if the stressed woman can judge or if it is her duty to qualify what she saw. Later, they return the call with an explanation that if the information when submitting the signal is not about an intentional act, the institutions have nothing to do … The report was submitted correctly, on time and with complete information. But the story doesn’t end here. The driver who hit Boris, alone and at least seemingly sincerely, offers help. He says he’ll take him to a veterinary clinic. He leaves the place for about 10 minutes, then returns with two more men. They assure the woman that they will take Boris for treatment. She believes them. Thank them. He remains confident that the dog will get help. This is not happening. Instead of going to a veterinary clinic, Boris was taken about 10 km away from the scene, abandoned by the road, in the area of Chepintsi Dam, in a helpless state, in a frosty night, motionless, in ice and snow. It was obvious that nature was expected to take care of everything on its own. That’s where we find him – on 08.01, around 14:00. With severe injuries from the accident. Frozen. In shock. But alive, despite the actions of people.

⚖️ The truth about Boris needs to be heard. This is not an “incident.”This is not a “mistake”. This is inhumane treatment and deliberate abandonment of an injured animal for which care and a commitment to help have been taken. The perpetrator must be held accountable and sanctioned by the institutions.
